Throughout this experience I learned to adapt quickly and to juggle the many aspects of online product sales. It has been a great intro into my e-commerce obsession and has gave me a great basis to start my career in the industry.

In August 2020, I embarked on a journey to pioneer the latest internet fad – the finger surfboard. Inspired by the allure of Tech Decks, but instead of ruining your middle school classroom desk, you could shred the wind on I-95 in the back of your mom's minivan.

The idea was simple. Take this cool concept of physics and mass market it to kids who are typically glued to their phone in the back of their parents cars. Being the broke college students that we were, our marketing budget was a whopping zero dollars. So we took to the internets newest crippling addiction: TikTok.

7 days a week I would drive around with my friends making sick TikTok videos surfing the wind waves of Massachusetts' Northshore. Sure enough after weeks of spamming our 127 loyal followers, we gained some traction. Videos starting reaching 100k, then 500k, then 1 million, even 8 million views, orders started pouring into our low budget Shopify store and I was working Investment Banking level hours trying to pack orders.

Within two months, we were at nearly 50k in sales, a testament to the power of grassroots marketing and digital virality. As demand surged, I embraced the challenge of scaling our operation, leveraging platforms like Facebook, Google, Amazon and TikTok's ad platforms to sustain our momentum. Through trial and error, I honed my skills in successful ad strategies, adapting swiftly to the ever-evolving landscape of e-commerce.

The experience of building and scaling the finger surfboard venture served as my initiation into the realm of e-commerce, providing invaluable insights and skills that would shape my future endeavors. From the adrenaline rush of viral fame to the meticulous orchestration of supply chain logistics, every facet of this entrepreneurial journey laid a solid foundation for my career in the industry. Armed with newfound knowledge and a potentially unhealthy obsession with consumer products, I am confident in by ability to tackle the rapidly evolving landscape of the ecommerce and digital marketing industry.
